Statement Made: Release shines at World Championship

The World Championship...known around the baseball circles as the most 'prestigious and exclusive' tournament, where hundreds of MLB scouts flock to each year to see all the very top players from around the world. Release Baseball, with a roster composed of ballplayers from only Northeast Ohio, went toe-to-toe with a field of practically all regional and national scout teams. Check out video highlights from Release's 3-0 shutout victory over Team X as well the thrilling come-from-behind, walk-off win over top-seeded Banditos National.

'Underclass' Finishes Fall as Champions

Release 2023s/2024s went a perfect 4-0 to win PBR Ohio's largest tourney of the fall. Pitchers tossed two shutouts, and hitters put up 30 runs on the weekend with 3 home runs and 12 extra bases hits.

Release earns coveted bid to 'Jupiter'

Release's Fall Upperclass team rattled off victories in five straight 'win-or-go-home' games to capture the PG National Qualifier championship and earn a birth in October's prestigious World Championship in Florida. In dominant fashion, Release tossed two shutouts, 5-0 over Triple Crown Prospects in the semis, and 8-0 over East Coast Lumberjacks in the championship.

Proven Talent

Release players were all over the latest PBR rankings, including:

- 43 players in the Top 150 of their class
- 23 players in the Top 50 of their class
- 11 players in the Top 25 of their class

From State Title to OSU Commitment For Gehring

CANFIELD - While Jacob Gehring was helping South Range to a state baseball title last June, his middle school principal was thinking about the pitcher’s future

Dan Szolek was texting with Ohio State baseball coach Greg Beals about the 16th-ranked player in the state’s 2021 class. After all, the two were roommates while students at Kent State.

Outfielder Mackenzie Wainwright and left-handed pitcher Gavin Bruni have been ranked by Prep Baseball Report as the #1 players in Ohio in the 2020 and 2021 classes, respectively. Both have pledged their commitment to The Ohio State University to play under Head Coach Greg Beals.

A 2022 Makes Ohio's Top 10 Prospect List

Shortstop Gabriel Nard comes in as the #4 best player in the state, according to PBR Ohio's ranking of the 2022 class. The powerful right-handed hitter is also considerd Ohio's #2 middle-infield prospect, and committed to Duke University in August 2019.

Zak Excited About 'New Energy' At Pittsburgh

MAYFIELD - A new head coach usually brings plenty of optimism to a program. That helped sell Cole Zak on a future at Pittsburgh.

The Mayfield junior recently committed to the Atlantic Coast Conference school, with the left-handed hitting Zak looking forward to making a big splash under the new regime at Pitt.

Buzzeo Finds Perfect Fit With Miami

STOW - “I always thought about it. I always dreamed of doing it. I always wanted to achieve it.”

Mission accomplished for Blake Buzzeo, whose long-time goal of playing college baseball has been realized with a commitment to Miami.

Bruni Excited For Opportunity To Be A Buckeye

ALLIANCE - The PBR Future Games helped Gavin Bruni realize college baseball was in his future. An offer from Ohio State sealed the deal.

The end result was the Alliance freshman committing to play for the Buckeyes.

A Summer To Remember For Stevens

LAKEWOOD - First a change in high schools and now a college commitment.

Jordan Stevens, who transferred from University School to Lakewood St. Edward after the 2016-17 school year, capped off a big summer by announcing his future plans to attend Kent State.

Original Release Baseball Team

The "Kids from Cleveland" run has come to an end. Their 117-20-3 record was something special, but the members of the originating Release Baseball team are chasing bigger dreams now at the college level.
